People First: Plantations et Huileries du Congo celebrated the retirement of Mr. Jean Jules Kiazayawoko, former director of the Yaligimba site

“People First”, this is the management style adopted, under the direction of Ms. Monique Gieskes, Managing Director of Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC), the largest palm oil producer in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This approach of the PHC company which highlights the well-being of employees was illustrated during the recent celebration of the retirement of Mr. Jean Jules Kiazayawoko, former director of the Yaligimba site in the province of Mongala, on Thursday 12 October 2023.

Mr. Kiazayawoko was warmly congratulated for his 28 years of exceptional work within the company. Under his leadership, the Yaligimba site has become a model of performance.

During the retirement ceremony, Mrs. Monique Gieskes underlined the importance of the leadership of Mr. Jean Jules Kiazayawoko in the success of the Yaligimba site. She stressed that the exceptional performance observed at the Yaligimba site is the result of close collaboration and teamwork under the leadership of Mr. Kiazayawoko.

The governor of the Mongala province, Master César Limbaya, guest of honor at the said ceremony, son of a former PHC worker, in his speech, underlined the positive impact of PHC on the improvement of living conditions of the population of Mongala. He therefore called on the communities of this province to support and protect the PHC company.

Mr. Jean Jules Kiazayawoko expressed his gratitude to the governor for his presence at this ceremony as well as the general management of PHC for their support throughout his career. He received an honorary certificate and trophy in recognition of his 28 years of dedicated service to PHC.

Founded 112 years ago, the Plantations et Huileries du Congo benefit from new momentum and new dynamics since the arrival of the new management, led by Mrs. Monique Gieskes. Since 2021, the company has increased its palm oil production by 60%.

With its vision of “Creating shared prosperity through agribusiness”, PHC uses a portion of its profits to improve the living conditions of its employees as well as those of surrounding communities. To date, 20 schools have been built and equipped to support 6 children. Additionally, PHC provides healthcare to more than 000 people through its 150 major hospitals, 000 health centers and 4 dispensaries across PHC's 4 locations. The company has also installed 18 portable water boreholes to benefit local communities. As a player committed to combating the harmful effects of climate change, PHC adopts a replanting approach to increase its production.
