PHCs honored during a ceremony organized by the Fédération des Entreprises du Congo

Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC) were once again honored at a ceremony organized by the Fédération des Entreprises du Congo (FEC), the main employers' organization in the DRC, on Saturday October 21, 2023 in Kinshasa. The aim of the event was to celebrate the Congolese business leaders who are members of the FEC and who recently won awards in New York, USA.

Among these worthy Congolese sons and daughters who are the pride of the country, we must mention Mrs. Monique Gieskes, General Manager of PHC, a position she has held since 2021. PHC is the largest agri-food company in the Democratic Republic of Congo, extending its influence over three provinces: Mongala, Equateur and Tshopo. PHC also has a head office in Kinshasa, and employs over 9 700 people.

Within this company, Monique Gieskes has established a culture of sustainability and community involvement. Under her management, the company's production increased by 60%, improving living conditions for its employees. Thanks to her leadership, PHC has carried out social projects with a positive impact, such as the construction of 20 schools, all equipped, accommodating a total of 6 000 children on the company's 3 sites, 4 hospitals, 18 dispensaries and 4 health centers, as well as the installation of 72 boreholes for the benefit of its employees and the communities surrounding its palm oil production sites.

For all these achievements, she was recently awarded the IMPACT LEADERSHIP AWARD 2023 in New York by the Nigerian Higher Education Foundation. The Fédération des Entreprises du Congo (FEC) was keen to honor this distinction awarded to Ms. Gieskes in recognition of her remarkable actions within Plantations et Huileries du Congo.

Mr. Gaston Fallu Pene Fallu, Secretary General of PHC, who represented Mrs. Monique Gieskes at the ceremony organized by the FEC, recalled that a company's mission is not limited to making profits, but aims above all to improve living conditions and bring happiness to local communities. With this in mind, he stressed, PHC is committed to building schools, hospitals and other infrastructure for the benefit of the populations surrounding its palm oil production sites.

In addition, Ms. Gieskes' decisive role in brand protection on an international scale, with actions to strengthen brand protection in Africa, the training of judges in Togo, as well as her term as President of the United Nations Global Compact in the DRC from 2016 to 2019, testify to her influence beyond borders. A graduate of the University of Faurt Lauderdale in Florida, USA, Monique Gieskes also holds an MBA from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
