Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC) officially inaugurated the modernized Yambenga Port on Friday, June 20, 2025. Located in the Bopoto groupement, Bumba territory, Mongala Province, this strategic infrastructure will strengthen the company’s logistics chain while boosting the region’s socioeconomic development.
The fully modernized Yambenga Port is part of PHC’s efforts to optimize its industrial operations. It will not only expedite the shipment of oils produced at the Yaligimba factory but also facilitate the transportation of essential materials for the company’s activities.

“The result of PHC’s commitment, the modernized Yambenga Port now streamlines the loading and unloading of our oils while improving the delivery of materials for our operations. This significantly enhances our logistics chain, making it more efficient and effective,” stated Ms. Monique Gieskes, CEO of PHC, during her speech.
Beyond its logistical role, this infrastructure serves as a catalyst for local development. Its modernization has created numerous direct jobs for the region’s youth, particularly in construction and handling. “These are tangible opportunities with an immediate impact on families’ livelihoods,” emphasized Ms. Gieskes, highlighting the project’s socioeconomic significance.

Present at the ceremony, the Provincial Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works (ITPR), Mr. Maurice Ndongo, representing the Governor of Mongala Province, praised PHC’s commitment. “This modernized port is an economic driver for our entire province. It is the kind of partnership Mongala needs, one that helps open up our territories. I commend PHC’s dedication and the leadership of its CEO, and I urge our communities to protect this infrastructure for the benefit of all.”
Mr. Kamal Pallan, representing PHC’s shareholders, underscored the company’s commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable growth for neighboring communities, embodying the vision of shared prosperity. “The modernized Yambenga Port symbolizes our dedication to inclusive growth, serving the communities,” he declared.
In his remarks, Mr. Jacques Bolama, Chief of the Bopoto groupement, expressed the local communities’ satisfaction with the new port, which adds to PHC’s many social initiatives for the region. “We are proud of what PHC has accomplished for our people. The company honors its social commitments, including the rehabilitation of schools, health centers, the construction of boreholes, guesthouses, and other essential infrastructure,” he said.

The inauguration of Yambenga Port is part of a broader program of social investments by PHC in the Bopoto groupement. Recent achievements include the rehabilitation of Yambenga Primary School, the construction of a borehole for clean water access, the rebuilding of the Boteku Health Center, the construction of the groupement chief’s residence and a guesthouse, and the ongoing development of a modern market in Engengele to boost trade and support the local economy.
Through the modernization of Yambenga Port, PHC reaffirms its commitment to playing a key role in the socioeconomic development of rural areas where the company operates.
