PHC Reaffirms Its Commitment to Social Peace and the Development of Tshopo Province

Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC S.A.) welcomes the mission carried out in Lokutu from 9 to 11 July 2026 by His Excellency Paulin Lendongolia, Governor of Tshopo Province. The visit reflects the Provincial Government’s commitment to promoting dialogue, consultation and an environment conducive to stability, social peace and the sustainable development of the province.

During the mission, the Governor met with PHC management, employees, political and administrative authorities, as well as representatives of local communities. These discussions provided an opportunity for all stakeholders to share their concerns and reaffirm the importance of constructive cooperation in preserving a peaceful environment, which is essential for continued investment and the economic development of the province.

The mission also included the official inauguration of the Loleka Bridge, an infrastructure project financed by PHC. The new bridge improves mobility for local communities, facilitates trade and strengthens connectivity between neighbouring communities, further demonstrating the company’s long-standing commitment to the development of Tshopo Province.

The mission followed discussions initiated on 6 July 2026 between His Excellency the Governor and a PHC delegation led by the company’s CEO, Monique Gieskes, following the incidents that occurred in Lokutu on 19, 20 and 30 June 2026, for which judicial proceedings are currently underway. During that meeting, both parties agreed to strengthen their collaboration in order to create an environment conducive to continued investment, the protection of jobs and the sustainable development of the province.

PHC expresses its appreciation to His Excellency the Governor for his commitment to dialogue and reaffirms its full willingness to continue working closely with the Provincial Government, traditional authorities, local communities and all relevant stakeholders in support of the long-term development of Tshopo Province.

The company remains convinced that social peace, trust, mutual respect and cooperation among all stakeholders are essential to preserving progress, safeguarding investments, protecting jobs and sustainably improving the living conditions of local communities.
