IITA

In 2022, PHC signed a collaboration agreement with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) to drive the DRC’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda, boosting local agriculture and cutting food imports. In this partnership, PHC committed to using 76 hectares of land to produce quality seeds of rice, maize, cassava, and soybeans which would be made available to farmers in the DRC.

Our collaboration with IITA is part of PHC’s commitment to economic development and safeguarding food security across the DRC. The production of seeds is implemented by PHC with the technical support of IITA and the financial support of the Agenda for Agricultural Transformation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (ATA-DRC) program.

As a result, we have provided 52 tons of certified, quality food seeds to Congolese farmers. The key achievements of our partnership include:

The MoU between PHC and IITA was signed within the framework of the Agenda for Agricultural Transformation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (ATA-DRC). ATA-DRC is an initiative of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, for which IITA and the African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI), in close collaboration with other partners in the agricultural sector, provide technical assistance.
