Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC) has officially launched the construction of two docking platforms in the villages of Bandu and Yangoma, located in the Mwingi groupement on the Lokutu site, in Tshopo province. These infrastructures are being built as part of the social clauses agreed upon with local communities.
The two facilities aim to facilitate the docking of watercrafts, including boats, in areas that were previously difficult to access due to the lack of suitable infrastructure. Once completed, these structures will significantly improve the mobility of people and goods, while boosting commercial exchanges between riverside villages and other areas accessible by river. They are also expected to have a major socio-economic impact: easing the transport of agricultural products, improving access to public services, and helping to open up isolated villages.

Moreover, the construction will generate local employment. The contractor plans to recruit many young people from the surrounding communities to participate in the work, thus creating concrete opportunities for jobs and income.
Through these developments, PHC reinforces its commitment to local development and social cohesion for the benefit of the communities of Bandu and Yangoma. Gabriel Lohola Tokufa-Tokufa, Interim Chief of the Mwingi groupement, welcomed the initiative: “These infrastructures represent real progress for our villages. They will make travel safer, allow for the reception of goods, and create job opportunities. We thank PHC for honoring its commitments to our community.”
By investing in essential infrastructure such as the rehabilitation of schools, health centers, rural access roads, bridges, and now port facilities, PHC a major economic player in Tshopo reaffirms its commitment to sustainably improving the living conditions of rural populations.
