Good news! PHC hospitals are now offering family planning services that meet the standards of the National Reproductive Health Program (PNSR) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Thanks to this initiative, modern methods are available at subsidized costs, making reproductive health services more affordable and accessible to all. This milestone addresses a long-standing challenge, particularly in rural areas. Today, local communities can benefit from these services in the hospitals of Yaligimba (Lolo Health Zone, Mongala Province), Boteka (Ingende Health Zone, Équateur), Lokutu, and Lokumete (Basoko Health Zones, Tshopo Province).

Strengthening Clinical Providers’ Skills in Family Planning Means Transforming Lives
From July 31 to August 14, 2025, doctors and nurses from the four hospitals took part in an advanced training program organized by PHC under its “Empow’her by PHC” initiative, with technical support from DKT International and PNSR. “We are not just training healthcare providers, we are shaping champions capable of changing the lives of women and families in rural areas,” emphasized Dr. Thérèse Mokaria, PNSR Tshopo Coordinator. “Every consultation, every piece of advice, every medical procedure performed in PHC hospitals has now become an act of empowerment and dignity.”

Tangible and Measurable Results
- Health providers trained and certified by PNSR, ensuring quality and trust.
- Modern contraceptive methods made available and affordable for women and couples.
- Rural communities discovering new opportunities: more choices, more autonomy, better health.
A Commitment from the Highest Level
Monique Gieskes, Managing Director of PHC, summarized this achievement as follows: “This success is more than a medical breakthrough; it represents a profound social transformation. It is the result of the commitment of our majority shareholder, Kuramo Capital Management, and the dedication of our teams working closely with communities. Each hospital equipped, each professional trained, and each consultation provided reflects a deep conviction: reproductive health is a fundamental right and a key to empowering families, especially in rural areas.”

Building Stronger Rural Communities
For reference, across its 3 operational sites, PHC owns and manages four modern hospitals with 460 beds and a highly qualified medical team. This system ensures an annual average of over 160,000 consultations, 17,000 hospitalizations, 2,000 major surgeries, and 2,500 deliveries. Access to care is completely free for PHC’s 10,000 employees and heavily subsidized for local populations. The latter account for over 70% of births recorded in PHC hospitals. Four health centers and 18 dispensaries complement the hospital infrastructure managed by PHC.
