As part of the social clauses signed with communities in 2018, PHC proceeded on October 17, 2022 to inaugurate the Yambenga Primary School at the Yaligimba site.
In Yambenga, children were faced with an insecure learning environment: the old school building, which was in a state of disrepair, made it difficult for students to learn. PHC financed the construction of a brand-new school building with 6 classrooms, equipped with a total of 120 benches that can seat about 360 students who are now enjoying better study conditions. The school is also equipped with 4 sanitary facilities for teachers and students. The Yambenga school also has a staff office equipped with a cabinet for filing documents, two chairs and two tables.
"The old Yambenga school building was built by a local company but was no longer safe for our children's education. Thanks to PHC, we now have a modern school building with appropriate equipment that contributes to a better learning experience for our students," said Mr. Ausa Lokala, director of the Yambenga primary school.
José Mombaya, head of the Yamwanza community, agrees that PHC's work directly contributes to the schooling of the children of the Yambenga community.
"The construction of the new school in Yambenga is a huge contribution by PHC to the education of our children who used to study in poor conditions for lack of a beautiful building built with sustainable materials. We promise the company to protect this building so that it sustainably contributes to our community."
The Yambenga school is the materialization of the company's vision to invest in human capital development through the construction of schools for the communities surrounding its sites. As part of the social clauses signed with local communities, PHC has already built 16 schools on its sites in Lokutu, Boteka and Yaligimba, allowing more than 4 students to benefit from good study conditions in modern facilities.
